Check out my new phone pouch!
I happened to have two larger scraps the perfect size for making this pouch. This fabric is one of my favorite prints EVER (read more about it at the bottom), so it is exciting to get the chance to use some of the small pieces I have left.
I know you want to make this phone pouch too, and many of you already know how. So for this I'm offering just the pattern pieces with a few relevant notes (allowance, finished dimensions, cutting amounts, etc.). Step-by-step instructions are NOT included. You must know what you are doing, but if you've used my patterns before you probably already know how to sew this pouch.
Construction
The construction is what I think of as the "sandwich" method. It is exactly like the Envelope Clutches, and the same basic construction as almost all my small accessory patterns. You sew the pouch, attach the pouch to the back/flap lining piece, and then place the exterior back/flap piece on top with the pouch sandwiched in the middle. Sew it up and turn it right side out.
About the Pouch
This is designed for the iPhone 4S with a rubber bumper, or phones with similar dimensions: 4.75" high x 2.5" wide x 0.5" deep.
It is just a very basic phone pouch with light padding. I'm using a light weight fusible fleece, but don't know the brand/weight. It is fairly translucent--once it is applied I can vaguely see the fabric print through the fleece.
You can add more padding if desired, but might need to make slight modifications. These are mentioned in the pattern notes.
It takes almost no time at all to make these pouches. I'm super slow and meticulous about my sewing, and I can make one of these from start to finish in 30-minutes. If you are doing any shows this summer, these would be perfect for production sewing!
Fabric Info
This is a Japanese cotton fabric from about 6 years ago. It is no longer in print (as far as I know) and I have no idea where to find it these days. The selvedge doesn't have any identifying info. If someone else comes across this print, please post a link in the comments.
