Let's see what happened around here this week:
I pressed some burlap buttons. Whoa, these were hard to get in the button die for pressing. Not only is the burlap burly, it needed a layer of fabric underneath so the button cap doesn't show through.
This pouch is experimental pouch (no pattern). It's meant to be a gift box type pouch.Bucket Bag. This one is chambray shirting fabric with pink ticking lining. You can read more and see more photos of this bag here.
These coasters felt like exercises in creativity for me. Patchwork takes me outside my sewing comfort zone. It was definitely a challenge to resist the urge to be matchy-matchy with the prints.
These fall under #9 of this interesting list. Numbers 8 & 10 are intriguing because I don't get what they mean. I'll have to think about them longer.
One thing these coasters made me admit is I am not fond of fabric prints with white backgrounds. They are so bright and stark.
A bottle of dye has been waiting for me to find the motivation to experiment with dyeing some of my white background prints to off-white. This weekend I went so far as to find a pot to dye them in and gather a few scraps for a practice run. The potential mess of dyeing is sort of off-putting to me, but it's time to get over it.
Maybe next week I'll be able to report back to you about my dyeing adventure.
