The weekly recap post didn't get done yesterday, and I almost skipped it altogether. But this morning seems like a good time to take a look back. Here is what happened (possibly in random order):
I took a custom order for a Padded Camera Pouch (pic at top), and it's been a while since I've sewn these pouches. First I made a small one in chambray and a sweet vintage reproduction fabric from Lecien (maybe?):
The first reminder to clean your sewing machine was sent. This is an email list you can join and to get a reminder message once per month. Enter your email in the box at the top of the left column and select the Clean Your Machine list.
The email mentioned cleaning your iron, which is something I did do, and it was a good thing. Check out how much stuff was on my iron, and it had been cleaned fairly recently!
One of the patchwork coasters was washed. I wanted to make sure the edges don't curl up, and was really happy to see it came out nice and flat. Here it is right out of the dryer:
Then I sewed the Padded Camera Pouch for the custom order. It turned out so pretty in these two fabrics:
Then I made this Pleated Wristlet and added some mushroom top buttons to the front:
This is the medium size with a modification--all corners are boxed with 3" seams.
The exterior fabric is Essex cotton/linen fabric and the lining is a cotton lawn print called London Calling. Both are from Robert Kaufman. The buttons are made from the lining fabric.
A bunch of buttons were also pressed...
Finally, on Saturday I went out with a friend, and while we were out I stumbled across something I'd never, ever seen before, and had no idea such a thing existed. When I spotted it, it was one of those "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE!?!?!" moments. It is exactly what I need for something very specific. Stay tuned to find out what this magical thing is...
Oh, and some button top brads were also made:
