That's a really great idea to leave the bits of fabric hanging over! I do find that it is difficult to see the end corner when you don't.

I just did this yesterday when making a jelly roll race quilt top. I had to overlap them due to the selveges on the jelly roll pieces. It really DOES help...especially when you want to chain piece and go quickly!
