I drafted my first skirt pattern and it is turning out really nice! Having no formal pattern making training, making a pattern for a piece of clothing feels like a pretty big accomplishment for me.
Above is a little snippet of the pocket with a few buttons that may or may not end trimming the pockets. These little black buttons are the only ones that I have enough for both pockets.
This is my wearable muslin version (v. 2.0). The first one I made from an old sheet and then it needed a few adjustments to the waist. So this one is getting close to being done, and I'm about to insert my first invisible zipper! How exciting is that?
First, I feel like getting an invisible zipper foot for my machine. There are tutorials out there for doing it with a regular foot, and I started to attempt it, but the pressing the zipper open part isn't going so well. I want that foot and will probably be able to get one on Friday or over the weekend.
Maybe next week I can show you my finished skirt. This one is turning out much better than expected, but since it is still in the muslin stage, it isn't perfect. The stripes are a tad off--though they are so skinny it doesn't make a lot of difference. Inside the seams are serged with black thread, which may end up showing through the fabric. Oh lazy me!
