I could use a few spare spools around here. They would be useful for storing ribbon, lace, bias tape, etc. It hadn't crossed my mind that I could buy spools, until I started noticing some of the great ones available on etsy. Take a look...

Mary Ann, what a nice find!
Kate, these would make lovely candle holders. Thanks for the idea.
Penny, thanks for the tip about finding spools Pendleton. Next time I'm over that way, I'm going to make sure to slow down in time to turn into their parking lot. I've zipped by there a bunch of times, but forget to slow down on 99 in time to turn.

Michelle, you can find spools at the Pendleton Stores. One in Milwaukie, OR and one in Washougal, WA.

The old wooden spools make beautiful candle holders! You need some of that sticky candle wax to hold the candle onto the spool but they look lovely with a beeswax taper!

Many years ago I found several wonderful old wooden spools similar to the one with the metal rim, but smaller top 'knob' in Lancaster county PA at a yard sale. Never knew what to do with them, so thanks for the suggestions!
