Last Thursday I took my first sewing class since high school, and learned to make underwear! Yes, I'm pretty excited about it.
Learning to make this wardrobe staple has been on my to do list forever. When I saw that PDX Seamsters offered a class, I decided to sign up and get it done.
Sewing underwear is not nearly as tricky as it might seem. You do need to use a knit or lingerie fabric, since they need to be stretchy. Guess they don't have to be stretchy, but non-stretchy underwear sound uncomfortable, if not painful.
Sewing the elastic--which seems like it would be the hardest part--was actually really easy. Now I'm obsessing about elastic trims. I've searched etsy to find some and there are some nice ones, but this is the only one I've found that is tempting me:
Anyone have suggestions for where to find pretty elastic trims?
