When I've been thinking too much I like to check out by doing a little embroidery. I find it easy to just concentrate on the stitches and not think about much else. It is nice.
For the last three nights I've been embroidering this fake moss and I must say I'm delighted by it! Perhaps I'm being a bit delusional about it, but it looks almost real to me.
I added a few flowers and some tiny glass beads to look like water droplets. Real moss does not have flowers, but there is a sub-shrub (think that basically means low growing shrub) called Pixie Moss that looks like moss and has flowers.
While I love real plants, I'm pretty excited this terrarium doesn't ever need water!
I will write a quick tutorial for it if people express some interest. Leave a comment if you want to make your own faux moss terrarium.

Oooh, this is so cute! Thanks for sharing.

Oh I love moss! I have again and again tried to keep moss in the house but it is just not its natural surrounding so it soon withers away. I would enjoy and appreciate a tutorial very much and try to get moss in the house again. Your project is very very beautiful! Thank you for showing and being inspirational! Greetings from Germany

This is fantastic! I grow something called Irish Moss in my garden and it gets little white flowers on it! It is also often called Scotch Moss.

I'm working on the tutorial now and making my second terrarium.
J.Loo--Yes, it is french knots! I've padded it underneath to give it that slightly lumpy moss look.
Vanessa--It would be adorable with a red mushroom. I'm going to post some fun things I found on etsy that could be used in the terrarium. Some cute mushrooms will be included.

oh oh i would love a tutorial. I kill most plants and my terrarium attempt was not exception. Fake plants will live forever!

Go ahead and recount my vote a couple of times to bump the number up! I'm a failure at "real" terrariums and would love to have one I theoretically could not kill. :D

That's lovely! I'm quite bad with flowers, I'd love to have such a terrarium that doesn't need water. ^^ If you have the time a tutorial would be nice.

Cute! Could see making something like this (with a little red mushroom maybe) for my daughter's room.

The moss is made of french knots? How lovely! I've been meaning of making a terrarium, but I would never think of making fake moss and flowers. What a creative idea!
