Proto-type Pricing

Recently I revamped a bunch of my pattern styles and it takes several tries to get the new ones just the right size so I have a selection of items that are a tad off in size.  Here are three lovelies in a nice black fabric printed with cherry blossoms and lined in pink cotton broadcloth.  Prices include shipping (US only).

1. Passport Book - $15 (Regular price $22) - This is just a little too snug if you put your passport on the left side, but works fine if you use the right side for the passport and leave the left open for other papers or some cash.

2. Checkbook Wallet - $15 (regular price $26) - This fits fine if you have the checks that DON'T have the carbon copy.  I like to make them fit both styles so this is too small to put in my etsy shop.  It will still work with the carbon copy checks if you snip off the bottom half inch of the backing cardboard on your checks.

3. Two-Slot Wallet - $5 (regular price $18) - This was my first try at this new style and I put the snap in too close to the edge to topstitch around the top flap.

Ironing Board Lust

I'll admit it--I enjoy ironing.  If you sew you either need to be resigned to ironing or full on enjoy it because it really is a necessary step to get a nice end product.  So I'm lusting over this ironing board found at Williams Sonoma:

Already owning two ironing boards I probably will not be buying this anytime soon.  This never would have come across my radar if it weren't for this purchase:

It is as fabulous as it looks and bigger than I imagined.

Homasote Bulletin Board

Today I finished a project that has been lingering for too long--a homasote bulletin board.  My work area is a mess of patterns and I wanted something to hang them on and keep them from piling up in stacks that I have to paw through every time I need one.

In the corner I added some poppies made from fabric yo-yos.  The red yo-yos were appliqued face down onto unbleached cotton using black wool french knots for the poppy seeds.  The stems are green velvet ribbon.

Almost Free Give-Away!

This is something I haven't done in a long, long time but it was popular on my previous blog--the "almost free" give-way.

When I'm making a new pattern it usually takes making the item 2-3 times and tweaking the pattern before it's just right. Which means I end up with a bunch of prototypes and items that don't get posted in my store for one reason or another.

So on my LiveJournal blog I would post them and ask for just enough to cover my materials, the shipping and PayPal fees.  Here is how it works:

1. The first person who posts and says they want it wins.

2. I'll send you a PayPal invoice (let me know how to contact you) and you have 24-hours to pay.

3. If payment isn't received in the 24-hour time frame it will go to the next person.

4. You must be in the US.

Up today we have a little wallet for $5.  I sell this style wallet in my store for $18 + postage.  It's made from a sweet pink fabric printed with cherry blossoms and tiny birds.  What's wrong with it you ask?  I wanted the flap to be just a little bit wider.

......SOLD!  Thanks......

Save Your Cash

Need a new wallet or small pouch to store your MP3 player or tiny phone?   For those of you in the DIY mood I have a new pattern available in my store

It's a small wallet with a "boxed" bottom so even though it's tiny the boxed bottom gives it a good amount of room.  I use mine to keep my MP3 player from getting dirty and tangled up in all the other stuff in my purse.

Which One?

Purlsoho.com is another one of my favorite fabric haunts on the internet.  So far I've only placed one order there and got some AMAZING fabrics:

It was also a nice shopping experience. They immediately sent a nice note that wasn't just the canned "thanks" and my package shipped right away--like next day right away. Which is not expected but always really nice.

So I want to buy one yard of Liberty of London tana lawn fabric from Purlsoho.com. I say one yard...maybe two...because at $35 per yard I need to check out the legendary quality before making any more of a monetary commitment. It needs to be a small print for what I will use it for (a secret for now).  Which one should I get????
